EC Issues Key Contract
for Galileo Business Plan
The European Commission (EC) has appointed United Kingdom- based PricewaterhouseCoopers to develop a business plan for the proposed Galileo satellite navigation system as a basis for attracting private sector involvement in the program.
Under the terms of the 3 million Euro study, the Pricewaterhouse-Coopers Project Finance and Privatisation team -- with input from Satel Conseil, Ovum, Denton Wilde Sapte, Willis Inspace, Deutsche Bank, and Nottingham Scientific Limited -- will advise the Commission on the commercial and public services to be provided by Galileo and the revenue flows that they could generate.
The report will come before the Transport Council of Ministers in December, which is considering a potential public/private partnership (PPP) structure for the next phase of the program.
